Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Servicing International) @Affirm

Overview

The role involves joining Affirm's Servicing International team to build foundational platforms for international markets, focusing on purchase protection including disputes and refunds. This position is aimed at creating cohesive and scalable solutions in collaboration with engineers across the company.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and deliver quarterly goals for the team, guiding engineers through problem-solving and ensuring support throughout delivery.
• Support the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics during ideation and decision-making processes.
• Proactively identify and lead solutions for project, process, technology, or business issues.
• Ensure the operations and availability of team artifacts by creating metrics and supporting on-call efforts.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership by setting code review standards and advocating beyond the team.
• Occasionally contribute to full-stack development, including front-end components.
• Develop talent on the team by providing feedback and guidance.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems using technologies like AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Enthusiasm for occasionally working on front-end code.
• Experience in defining technical plans for significant features or system components.
• Proficiency in making significant changes in large code bases safely.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration.
