Senior Software Engineer - Orchestration @Fivetran

Overview

Fivetran and dbt Labs are combining efforts to build data pipelines for thousands of companies. They are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Orchestration team, focusing on the control plane layer of the dbt platform.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement features and performance improvements across the team's services.
• Develop, maintain, and test high-quality, maintainable code, optimizing for performance.
• Write technical designs for feature work and seek feedback on trade-offs.
• Participate in reviewing technical designs and pull requests.
• Improve test coverage and refactor code to reduce technical debt.
• Troubleshoot production issues and follow up with post-mortems.
• Structure and execute project plans while contributing to sprint planning.
• Collaborate with product managers, QE, and customer support to ensure high-quality product delivery.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and maintain security awareness.
• Utilize AI tooling to enhance development processes.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, designing and building backend services.
• Experience with distributed systems and cloud computing.
• Ability to write well-structured, performant, and well-tested code.
• Experience with feature-level software and design work.
• Demonstrated experience in code reviews, troubleshooting, and testing.
• Proficiency in a backend language (Python, Java, C++, or C#).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with continuous integration tooling and observability tools is a plus.
