Senior Software Engineer (Typescript), AI Clients: Duo CLI @GitLab

Overview

GitLab is the intelligent orchestration platform for DevSecOps. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Duo CLI functional team, you will design and build tools that integrate GitLab Duo into developers' terminal workflows, primarily using TypeScript.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the design, development, and evolution of GitLab Duo CLI features from problem definition through implementation and iteration.
• Build interactive terminal experiences in TypeScript, focusing on command design and output formatting.
• Drive reliability, observability, and performance improvements for the CLI.
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and engineers across Developer Clients and the wider AI Clients stage.
• Champion product quality, security, and developer experience through reviews and mentorship.
• Contribute to IDE extension work when useful, including JetBrains plugins and VS Code extensions.

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and interest in developer tooling and command-line interface design.
• Experience building or maintaining command-line tools or developer-facing tooling.
• Ability to own technical problems end to end and guide other engineers through reviews.
• Clear written and spoken English communication skills.
• Alignment with GitLab's values and commitment to an inclusive culture.
• Experience with IDE extension development and understanding of LSP is helpful but not required.
