Overview

The role involves working as a Senior Staff Performance Engineer for Mozilla's Firefox Performance team, which focuses on delivering the fastest possible browser. The team is responsible for enhancing browser performance across various platforms, including Windows, Android, Linux, and macOS.

Key Responsibilities

• Write code and tests, build prototypes, tackle problems, and analyze performance bottlenecks.
• Learn about a variety of problems across a complex codebase.
• Use programming languages such as C++, JavaScript, Kotlin, Rust, and Python to fix performance issues.
• Educate engineers on writing performant code through code reviews, talks, tooling, and documentation.
• Define and drive actionable next steps from high-level objectives.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to assist and lead performance efforts.
• Shape performance benchmarks and prioritize improvement actions.
• Develop strategies for the Performance team and organization.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Mastery of programming in C++.
• Understanding of JavaScript programming.
• Proven experience developing performance-critical software.
• Skilled in debugging and analyzing performance bottlenecks.
• Experience with multithreading, concurrency, disk I/O, and GPU.
• Track record of setting team goals and driving them to completion.
• Ability to work in a distributed team and communicate effectively.
