Software Engineer @Axios

Overview

Axios is a growth-focused media company that helps people get smarter, faster, on what matters. They are looking for a Full Stack Software Engineer with strong product-engineering fundamentals and modern AI-native development practices to build and scale systems and experiences for their core products.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, reliable product features across Axios’ frontend and backend systems.
• Own end-to-end feature development across the frontend, APIs, business logic, data layer, testing, and production systems.
• Create accessible and responsive interfaces with JavaScript or TypeScript, React, and Next.js.
• Build production services and APIs to support Axios’ products and workflows.
• Identify opportunities for AI to create value for readers or internal teams and build those capabilities.
• Write automated tests and contribute to performance monitoring and security.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers for effective delivery and requirements clarification.
• Improve existing systems through thoughtful refactoring and sound technical decisions.

Requirements

• 2-5+ years of professional software development experience in frontend, backend, or full-stack development.
• Experience with agentic coding tools to complete meaningful software work.
• Ability to write clear specifications and guide AI tools effectively.
• Frontend development experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and React, preferably with Next.js.
• Background in building production services and APIs using Go or Python.
• Experience with relational databases, SQL, and software security practices.
• Strong communication skills for explaining technical decisions.
• A curiosity about rapid developments in AI and technology.
