Software Engineer I, Frontend (Upfunnel) @Affirm

Overview

The role involves contributing as a Software Engineer I on the Upfunnel team at Affirm, focusing on building reliable, accessible, and high-performance frontend experiences that support shoppers in understanding Affirm on merchant sites.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and improve high-traffic frontend experiences across Affirm.js, promotional messaging, experimentation, and developer-facing tooling.
• Collaborate proactively with team members and stakeholders to ensure transparency regarding work risks and trade-offs.
• Balance speed and quality to achieve business goals while preventing system downtime.
• Use browser debugging, monitoring, metrics, and testing tools to maintain reliable cross-browser experiences and address operational issues as a team.
• Engage in growth and development activities to foster team community.

Requirements

• Experience in shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks like React or Vue.
• Experience with Javascript/Typescript.
• Ability to translate simple problems or business scenarios into solutions interacting with multiple software components.
• Comfortable navigating large codebases, debugging others' code, and providing feedback through code reviews.
• Demonstrated ownership of personal growth and seeking feedback.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with a global engineering team.
