Software Engineer II, Backend (Identity Decisioning) @Affirm

Overview

Affirm is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the Identity Decisioning team. This role involves building backend systems responsible for validating consumer identity across all of Affirm’s products, ensuring compliance with regulatory protocols such as KYC.

Key Responsibilities

• Break down larger projects into individual tasks and ensure timely delivery by collaborating effectively with the team and stakeholders.
• Support the product development lifecycle by collaborating with product management, design, and analytics.
• Create and monitor metrics to support the operations and availability of team artifacts, including participation in on-call efforts.
• Engage in growth and development activities within the team, including participation in the interview process.

Requirements

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Proficient in backend systems development using Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems and technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to write clear and tested code.
• Experience navigating code bases and providing constructive feedback through code reviews.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills for collaboration with a global team.
• A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.

Location

This role is remote but limited to candidates residing in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, or Saskatchewan, Canada.
