The company is expanding its product offerings beyond email and looking for a Staff Designer for Thunderbolt, an AI client designed for organizations requiring control over their data.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build functional prototypes and product experiments directly in the Thunderbolt codebase.
    • Translate ambiguous product ideas, user workflows, partner feedback, and enterprise needs into clear, usable product experiences.
    • Help define interaction patterns for AI-powered chat, search, workflow automation, and more.
    • Use AI-assisted tools to enhance prototyping while prioritizing quality, usability, and security.
    • Collaborate with product, design, and engineering teams to explore and refine product direction.
    • Contribute production-quality front-end code where appropriate.
    • Identify the status of prototypes for production readiness or further refinement.
    • Enhance the usability and polish of the user experience.
    • Develop reusable components and interface patterns for team leverage.
    • Bring a user-centered approach to product discussions, especially regarding AI behavior and user trust.
    • Consider enterprise needs in product designs, focusing on data sensitivity and security expectations.

    Requirements

    • 10+ years of relevant experience in design engineering, front-end engineering, or product design.
    • Strong front-end engineering skills in modern JavaScript or TypeScript, and component-based frameworks.
    • Sound judgment in product and interaction design, with an emphasis on usability.
    • Experience in designing AI-enabled product experiences and translating product concepts into workflows.
    • Proven leadership through mentoring, project ownership, or cross-functional coordination.
    • Familiarity with AI, privacy, security, and regulatory considerations affecting product experience.
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
    • Portfolio demonstrating design-to-code execution and product improvement examples.
