Overview
The role of Staff Engineer in People Technology at GitLab focuses on driving the evolution of the company's People systems through an AI-first mindset. The engineer will build and maintain systems that support GitLab's global workforce automation ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain people system automations and integrations.
- Build and maintain integrations between Workday, Greenhouse, Slack, and internal tools.
- Write, version, and maintain automation code in Ruby or comparable scripting languages.
- Develop and manage Slack apps and bots to deliver automated workflows.
- Analyze root problems and co-design durable, scalable automation solutions.
- Act as a subject matter expert on automation architecture and integration standards.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines for People system automation.
- Utilize AI tools and frameworks to enhance automation development.
- Provide technical guidance and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Requirements
- Experience writing and maintaining code in Ruby or similar languages.
- Expertise in Workato or comparable automation platforms.
- Experience integrating with Workday using Workday Web Services.
- Knowledge in building Slack apps using Slack's API.
- Proficiency with Git and GitLab.
- Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform or AWS.
- Understanding of HR system integrations.
- Strong communication skills and an engineering mindset for people systems.
