Overview

The role of Staff Software Engineer, Backend in the Identity International team is crucial for supporting Affirm's growth in markets outside North America by building and expanding Identity services.

Key Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team over a year-long timescale and connect it with important, business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate in the product development lifecycle to ensure technical sustainability and manage risks and trade-offs.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes to enhance team efficiency.
• Monitor and ensure team operations and availability by developing appropriate monitoring and support processes.
• Foster a culture of quality by establishing design standards and promoting them across teams.
• Develop talent within the team by providing guidance and feedback.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching scalable backend systems using languages like Python or Kotlin.
• Proven track record in building highly available distributed systems utilizing AWS, MySQL, Spark, and Kubernetes.
• Experience in defining technical and execution plans for delivering major features or system components.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity and comprehend the relationship between low-level systems and their broader architecture.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration within a global engineering team.
