Overview
GitLab is seeking a Support Engineer for their U.S. Government Support Engineering team. The role focuses on enabling public sector organizations and U.S. government agencies to effectively run GitLab in secure environments while supporting national security missions.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with public sector customers, including U.S. government agencies, to diagnose and resolve complex issues in GitLab deployments.
- Conduct technical investigations using Linux command-line tools to analyze logs and system performance.
- Create and update documentation based on customer interactions to improve self-service support.
- Participate in on-call rotations to provide timely emergency support.
- Contribute to building and refining internal support tools and workflows.
- Support team growth by participating in the recruitment process.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. Citizen due to government security requirements.
- Experience in managing customer-facing support cases through the entire support lifecycle.
- Strong Linux systems administration knowledge.
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-powered developer tools and architectures.
- Ability to use scripting languages (preferably Ruby or Bash).
- Practical experience with Git and CI/CD workflows.
- Skill in creating clear technical documentation.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and container orchestration technologies.
