Key Responsibilities

• Assess credit quality regarding the repayment ability of business credit card customers.
• Review bank and financial statements to underwrite Brex customers.
• Handle intermediate-level underwriting escalations involving deeper investigation of applicant financials.
• Identify and recommend improvements in existing underwriting processes.
• Track and communicate key underwriting metrics to stakeholders.
• Build and maintain relationships with partners across Risk, Sales, Engineering, and Product.
• Serve as a subject matter expert in underwriting and assist in up-leveling team members.
• Contribute to team learning and success through collaboration and mentoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.
• 1+ years of experience in underwriting, credit risk, financial analysis, or a related field.
• Passion for credit and underwriting decisions on commercial exposures.
• Understanding of GAAP/IFRS accounting standards and financial statement analysis.
• Familiarity with quantitative credit risk models and related concepts.
• Proficiency in Google Sheets, Excel, and similar BI tools for data analysis.
• Experience with underwriting/credit tooling.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
• Customer-centric mindset and effective communication skills.

Benefits

This role offers a hybrid work environment requiring at least three in-office days per week, with opportunities for fully remote work up to four weeks per year. Compensation includes a salary range of $63,896 - $79,870 CAD depending on experience and other factors.
