Underwriting & Servicing Operations Manager - Cards @Mercury

Overview

Mercury is hiring an Underwriting & Servicing Operations Manager to scale the operational layer across its credit card products. This role sits at the intersection of underwriting, portfolio management, and collections, bringing structure and disciplined management to fast-growing operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the end-to-end operational layer across credit product variants, including workflows, document collection, credit bureau pulls, and application throughput.
• Lead a team underwriting businesses using financial statements, bank accounts, bureau data, and internal data.
• Bring consistency to underwriting processes and reduce variance in decision-making.
• Monitor pipeline health, manage operational bottlenecks, and identify improvements.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Legal/Compliance as the operational lead.
• Define and own the KPI framework for underwriting operations.
• Lead credit memo and approval workflows for complex underwriting requests.
• Monitor post-origination portfolio health and track portfolio health KPIs.
• Improve corporate card collections operations, including monitoring and outreach strategies.
• Define collections performance metrics and report on operational efficiency.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in credit operations, underwriting, or servicing.
• Prior experience in a regulated financial services environment is a strong plus.
• Demonstrated ability to scale credit operations.
• Strong judgment in ambiguous situations.
• Experience in managing and developing early-career team members.
• Comfortable working across functions and translating between teams.
• Data fluency, with comfort using SQL or similar tools.
• Experience with SMB credit, fintech lending products, or credit cards is required.
• Curiosity about AI tools to improve operational efficiency is a plus.
