Overview

GitLab is seeking a VP of Data and Insights to lead the strategic vision, architecture, and execution of their enterprise data platform and analytics capabilities. This role reports to the CIO and involves overseeing a distributed team to advance GitLab's AI journey and transform data accessibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Define and execute a multi-year strategy for GitLab's data platform.
• Lead the transformation towards AI-powered self-service analytics.
• Oversee the architecture of GitLab's data engineering foundations.
• Drive analytics engineering practices to create governed data models.
• Build expertise in consumption-based data strategy.
• Establish enterprise-wide data governance frameworks.
• Serve as a strategic partner to leaders across various departments.
• Inspire and develop a high-performing distributed team.
• Stay ahead of evolving data tooling and technology.

Requirements

• 12+ years of data leadership experience, with 5+ years managing data teams at high-growth SaaS companies.
• Deep expertise in modern data platform architecture and AI-ready data infrastructure.
• Experience driving self-service analytics transformations.
• Strong understanding of consumption-based business models and related data complexities.
• Experience in analytics engineering functions.
• Ability to partner with C-level stakeholders and strong executive presence.
• Track record of developing high-performing remote teams.
• Strategic thinker with a forward-looking perspective on data and AI.
