Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure @Elastic

Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join Platform Infrastructure - Application Networking. This role will focus on advancing Elastic Cloud application networking, covering areas such as Ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major application networking initiatives, guiding designs from proposal through general availability.
• Lead development efforts for Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls at scale for Elastic Cloud.
• Manage multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects critical to other Elastic engineering teams.
• Enhance operational quality, lead incident investigations, and participate in on-call rotation.
• Mentor engineers and serve as a technical advisor to the wider organization.
• Collaborate with product management on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.
• Identify improvements for security, stability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• Proven experience in designing high-performance, scalable networking platforms.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
• Track record of building large-scale distributed systems.
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms and improving reliability.
• Ability to communicate clearly and influence direction across teams.
• Experience with AI in software development and debugging complex systems is a plus.
