Overview

The role involves a Principal Software Engineer position within the Platform Infrastructure team at Elastic, focusing on Application Networking. This role is pivotal in setting the direction for Elastic Cloud application networking, including ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major application networking initiatives, overseeing designs from proposal to general availability.
• Lead the development of ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls on a large scale for Elastic Cloud, addressing performance, reliability, and operability issues.
• Guide multi-quarter, cross-organizational projects to delivery, enhancing operational quality and investigating incidents.
• Mentor and support engineers, acting as a subject matter expert within the engineering organization.
• Collaborate with product management and senior engineering stakeholders on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.
• Champion improvements in security, stability, and cost efficiency across the platform.

Requirements

• Experience in designing complex distributed systems and setting technical direction at a Principal or Staff level.
• Deep expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture, particularly in designing ingress, private connectivity, and security controls.
• Proven experience in building large-scale distributed systems from scratch.
• Experience in operational high-availability SaaS platforms, enhancing reliability and conducting incident responses.
• A track record of leveraging AI for development, debugging, and code optimization.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to influence decisions across teams.
