Principal Software Engineer (Application Networking) - Platform Infrastructure @Elastic

Overview

Elastic, the Search AI Company, enables everyone to find answers in real time using all their data. They are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to join their Platform Infrastructure team, focusing on application networking, including Ingress, security controls, private connectivity, and DNS management.

Key Responsibilities

• Set the technical direction for major application networking initiatives, owning designs from proposal through availability.
• Lead the development of Ingress, private connectivity, DNS, and security controls for Elastic Cloud, addressing performance, reliability, and operability issues.
• Lead cross-organizational projects, guiding them to delivery.
• Enhance operational quality of services through incident investigations and reviews.
• Mentor and support engineers, serving as a subject matter expert across the organization.
• Collaborate with product management and engineering stakeholders on technical trade-offs and roadmap direction.
• Champion improvements to security, stability, and cost efficiency.

Requirements

• Experience designing complex distributed systems running in production at scale.
• Expertise in application networking and cloud-native architecture.
• Experience building large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to own projects from inception to delivery, collaborating effectively with teams.
• Experience operating high-availability SaaS platforms and responding to incidents.
• Proven ability to use AI in accelerating development and optimizing code.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills across functions.
