Staff Software Engineer, Backend (Deal reporting) @Affirm

Overview

Affirm is seeking a highly motivated Staff Software Engineer for its Deal Reporting team, which is responsible for building capital partner integrations and automating funding processes. This remote role based in Poland involves collaborating with various teams to ensure technical sustainability and quality in the development pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

• Set technical strategy for the team focused on critical, business-impacting projects.
• Collaborate across teams by engaging with product management, design, and analytics.
• Define and advocate for technical solutions and operational processes.
• Ensure the right monitoring, triage rotations, playbooks, policies, testing, and alerting are in place.
• Foster a culture of quality and ownership through code review and design standards.
• Provide feedback and guidance to develop talent within the team.

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in designing, developing, and launching backend systems at scale using Python or Kotlin.
• Strong background in developing highly available distributed systems with technologies such as AWS, MySQL, and Kubernetes.
• Knowledge of Spark and task orchestration systems like Airflow or Temporal.
• Experience delivering major features and system components while maintaining high-quality code.
• Ability to thrive in ambiguity and comfortably navigate from low-level language idioms to large system architecture.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with global teams.
